The thread plug gauges have the same role to perform, but they cater to the internal threaded instruments like the bolts and sockets. The principle is the same as far as the Go and No Go rules are concerned. The plug gauge should easily fit into the bolts through the Go Side. Similarly, they should not go more than two turns when you use the No Go side. Once the implements satisfy this condition, they are fit for use.
There are various types of threads in use in the industry. Hence, you need different types of gauges to determine the pitch of each type of thread. Different countries have different methods of measurement. Take the example of US and Canadian industries. These industries follow the Imperial system of measurement while the European and other nations in the world adopt the metric system. These are different systems and hence you need different types of thread gauges to determine the pitch and tolerance levels.
